ANTICLASSIC was a surprising outcome from a technique I had used several times before. A simple bug transformed an orderly pattern into something very different. When I look at it now, I love the way that it is fundamentally chaotic, but there is still a structure there that you can’t quite pin down, like rocks sorted by a river. It has a bit of the spirit of cellular automata, those fundamental processes that shape much of the biological world around us. Most of all, I am happy that ANTICLASSIC captures those things in a lighthearted way.
